Vacanze coi fiocchi 2025

Slow down – you're on holiday! The new edition of “Vacanze coi fiocchi” is underway

Now in its 26th year, the national road safety campaign focuses this summer on the issue of speeding and the importance of slowing down – not just on the road, but in life too, especially during the holidays.

The campaign is promoted by the Centro Antartide with the support of the Senate of the Republic, Chamber of Deputies, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, ANCI – the National Association of Italian Municipalities, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and over 100 partners nationwide, including local authorities, motorway companies, health agencies, businesses, associations, media outlets, radio stations, and with the collaboration of campaign ambassadors Tessa Gelisio, Patrizio Roversi and Luca Mercalli.

Always respecting speed limits – and reducing speed more generally – significantly lowers the risk and severity of accidents, saving lives, especially those of pedestrians. Travelling at a slower pace also improves road visibility and reaction time, helping drivers to better respond to unexpected situations.

But the campaign also reminds us that “speed” affects our daily lives, too – the often relentless pace of modern life impacts our health, wellbeing, and even how calmly and attentively we drive. Taking a real break during the summer holidays, unplugging and reducing stress, can have real benefits – including for road safety.

For this reason, the 2025 edition of “Vacanze Coi Fiocchi”, with its slogan “Slow down – you’re on holiday!”, combines two powerful messages in one awareness campaign: prioritise safety through careful driving – especially in summer, when accident rates are at their highest – and take the opportunity to slow the pace of life for the benefit of your own health and that of others.

Speed remains one of the main causes of road accidents, often worsening their impact. More than 8% of accidents involving deaths or injuries are caused by excessive speed. Slowing down not only saves lives – it also reduces pollution, noise, and fuel costs. Slowing our lifestyle pace during holidays also has proven health benefits: men who take regular holidays reduce their risk of heart attack by 32%, and women by 50%. Meanwhile, 89% of people report a significant drop in stress levels after just 1–2 days away.

The highlight of the campaign will be the final weekend of July, with the traditional presence at motorway toll booths across Italy. Here, operators, volunteers, and local police will hand out campaign materials featuring the iconic Snoopy: a sticker and leaflet with tips on safe driving, lifestyle pace, and reflections from the campaign’s ambassadors – Tessa Gelisio, Luca Mercalli, and long-time spokesperson Patrizio Roversi. In addition to toll booths, stickers and leaflets will be available at service areas, rest zones, and in towns and cities across the country. Posters will appear on the motorway network and in many urban areas, while partner radio stations will promote the campaign by broadcasting the radio and video spot starring Patrizio Roversi.

The campaign runs both on the road and online, with a Facebook page and Instagram profile providing daily tips and messages for safer, more enjoyable travel, along with video messages from the ambassadors and the hashtags #VacanzeCoiFiocchi and #VCF25.
